Fugitive Bodies

A conversation between an artist, a curator, and a scholar explores the ways borders, laws, and policies shape the lives of immigrant people.

Desert X artist Felipe Baeza and curator César García-Alvarez join Coachella Valley native Luisa Laura Heredia, currently the Joanne Woodward Chair in Public Policy at Sarah Lawrence College in a conversation about how borders and policies shape the lives of immigrant people. Discussing histories of migration regimes, the panelists explore how laws and policies shape the daily lives and identities of immigrants and other people whose sense of personhood is constantly re-litigated. Positing the imaginative potential of art to transform narratives, this conversation engages with Baeza’s new work for Desert X, Finding Home in My Own Flesh.
