Think Together Arts Curriculum
Download a three-part curriculum that meets National Arts Education Standards for students in grades 6-8. The curriculum includes art history, STEAM interactions, and hands-on experiences. It’s also adaptable for a range of ages and education contexts, including learning from home.
The curriculum examines the career of artist Judy Chicago, who has for decades challenged creative conventions and created new ways to experience art. Her sensitivity to the natural world and her feminist perspective connect strongly to contemporary art today, as well as to broader social and cultural issues. Topics and key words in these lessons include:
Identity (feminism, intersectionality, equality);
Artists in the desert landscape (resonate, land art, ecology); and
Augmented Reality (emotive color, trompe l’oeil, augmented reality vs. virtual reality).
Lesson 1: About Judy Chicago
Lesson 2: Artists in the Desert Environment
Lesson 3: Are you ready for the Fireworks?!
